Multigen Homes

BUILD A HOME THAT LASTS LIFETIMES.

What is a Multigenerational home?

A Multigenerational home is a household where multiple generations of a family live together under one roof. This typically includes grandparents, parents, and children, but can also extend to include other relatives such as aunts, uncles, or adult siblings. The arrangement allows for shared living spaces and often involves shared responsibilities, such as childcare or household expenses.

Progen’s Multigenerational living was an idea born from a multitude of issues that are affecting the way current and younger generations live. Cost of living, shortage of land and renovation costs have meant that generations are living at home for longer and later into their adult life.

There has been a lack of foresight in design when it comes to creating a functional home that meets the living needs for multiple generations…until now.

At Progen Homes, we are always and continue to be, committed to our customers and the different ways they live in their homes. Our goal is to build our customers award-winning, high-quality homes that can adapt and change through stages of life, then shared with or passed on to future generations within the family. Our multi-award winning team is committed to customer service and attention to detail. When we construct houses for our clients we are build enduring legacies where generations can create cherished moments and have a place to call home for generations to come.

Multigenerational Features

Multi-purpose Spaces

Our Multigenerational homes are designed to adapt and change with life. Our multi-purpose rooms can evolve to suit a variety of life stages and furnishings. Multigenerational homes have considered zoning of rooms to allow for the interconnection of these rooms to change. Our designs create unique and specialised “wings” to the home. Through the clever use of door positioning, this allows zones to be kept open or made private, depending on the intended usage.

Aesthetics / Styling

The clean style of a Multigenerational design acts as a blank canvas for the ever-changing inhabitants to furnish and decorate to suit their own styles in present day and in future. Our Multigenerational home designs are refined and feature sophisticated façades to ensure a timeless quality, so it remains appealing for years and generations to come.

Why build a Multigenerational home?

Stronger Family Bonds

Building a Multigenerational home offers a multitude of benefits that cater to the needs and dynamics of extended families. Firstly, such a setup promotes stronger family bonds by fostering daily interactions among different generations. This constant closeness allows for shared experiences, wisdom transfer, and emotional support, which can enrich familial relationships. For children, growing up in a Multigenerational home provides them with a broader perspective on life, as they learn from the experiences of others and receive guidance from multiple adults in their formative years.

Shared Expenses

Practicality is another significant advantage of Multigenerational living. Shared expenses for mortgage payments, utilities, and household chores can significantly reduce financial burdens for all members involved. This arrangement also allows for efficient use of resources, as spaces like kitchens, living areas, and even vehicles can be shared, cutting down on overall costs and environmental impact. Additionally, caregiving responsibilities can be distributed among family members, easing the strain on any single individual and ensuring that elderly relatives receive the care and attention they need while maintaining their independence within a familiar environment.

Security and Stability

From a social and emotional perspective, Multigenerational homes promote a sense of security and stability. Elderly family members often experience decreased feelings of loneliness and isolation, as they are surrounded by loved ones and are more likely to remain active and engaged in daily life. For younger adults, having the support of grandparents or older relatives can offer a safety net during times of economic uncertainty or personal challenges. Overall, a Multigenerational household fosters a sense of community within the family unit, enhancing overall well-being and quality of life for all its members.

Build a Family Heirloom

A Multigenerational home is more than just a collection of walls and rooms; it’s a living testament to the bonds that tie a family together across time. It becomes a repository of memories, stories, and traditions passed down from one generation to the next, each adding their own chapter to its history.
